New Build - Barn Bliss

The brief was to renovate and extend a 1970’s bungalow 'bliss' and from this create a contemporary home which mimics the Irish barn building which surround the immediate context.

The barn allowed us to accommodate four bedrooms, home office and a gym. Utilising the high vaulted ceilings of the proposed typology to bring light into the building and create powerful spaces.

The result was the creation of a contemporary two storey barn house, which seamlessly sits in its rural context. The project utilised large floor-to-ceiling heights with stunning curved vaulted ceilings, carrying from the entrance hall up to the first floor. Living spaces were focused around large double-height spaces, which used a stove as a focal point.

Throughout the house large, carefully placed windows frame various views over the countryside.
