Mayo Refurb

The clients are a couple who want to retire to a cottage in Mayo. The brief was to renovate and extend an existing cottage to bring it up to a modern and more comfortable standard of living for them as they age.

 

The new design was informed by the existing rural context of the site, its exaggerated site contours and ultimately the local planners.

 

The design resulted in a completely reworked plan of the existing house layout, maximising views and solar gain to the front of the site, with a two storey Barn extension to the rear, housing the sleeping accommodation.
